One Man, Two Guvnors - Opening This Weekend!

It’s so much work to be funny!  But Heartwood and Lincoln Academy have teamed up to give thirty plus Midcoast high school students a chance to do just that.

"One Man, Two Guvnors" opens in the Poe Theater on Friday, October 30th, fast paced and hilarious.  Audience energy will provide the final essential ingredient.   In any production, there is reciprocity between audience and actors, but never more important than with a comedy.   An audience gets its own rhythm going, completing the “funny-cycle” with the actors on stage.

These student performers are learning that to succeed in comedy, one must play with controlled abandon - but ever so carefully.  Laughter is a delicate thing; it takes bold commitment, practice and an element of bravery to elicit this coveted response.  Comedy.  It’s risky.  And it’s rewarding - wildly rewarding, when shared with an enthusiastic audience.

With a 60’s skiffle band & vocalists, hilarious situations, delightfully fun costumes and props and a bit of theater magic, this show promises an evening of straight up fun.  “One Man, Two Guvnors” performances are already filling up, and reservations are strongly recommended.

Sponsors include Heartwood Season Sponsor, Bath Savings Institution, Main Stage Sponsor, Granite Hill Estates, Season Youth Sponsor, Damariscotta Hardware & Youth Ticket Sponsor, Colby & Gale.  Show sponsors are Supplies Unlimited and Chesterfield Associates, long time youth supporters at Heartwood.

Performance dates are October 30 & 31 at 7:30, November 1 matinee at 3:00, and final 7:30 shows on November 5, 6 & 7.

Reservations available by emailing Heartwood at or phoning 563-1373 (please do not contact Lincoln Academy for tickets).  Student tickets are $8, all adults are $16.  Seating is unreserved, unless specifically requested in advance.  For more details visit
