Jekyll & Hyde Set to Open Oct 30

"JEKYLL & HYDE, THE MUSICAL" READY TO OPEN

Opening Thursday, October 30, in the Poe Theater at Lincoln Academy – “Jekyll & Hyde, the Musical,” the annual youth collaboration between Heartwood Theater and Lincoln Academy.

Based on the classic story by Robert Louis Stevenson, thirty plus students bring to the stage the thought provoking, somewhat disturbing moral and ethical questions of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.  The eternal battle between good and evil, in the context of this scientific experiment, resonates clearly in today’s world.  Backed by Music Director and Accompanist Sean Fleming and a talented group of musicians, students deliver a challenging score of pop rock music by Frank Wildhorn and Leslie Bricusse.

Behind any successful youth production is a committed group of professionals, leading, teaching and supporting students.  Heartwood’s Artistic Director and LA teacher, Griff Braley, along with Vocal Instructor and Choral Director at LA, Beth Preston, work directly with students on stage; Heartwood’s Technical Director, Letitia Munson, and costumer Paulette Carter work diligently behind the scenes, to present a complete, unified production concept.

Midcoast students are very privileged to receive much community support, beginning with Heartwood’s Season Sponsor, Bath Savings Institution, and Season Youth Sponsor, Damariscotta Hardware.  First Advisors is the Season Intermission Sponsor, and Jekyll & Hyde Show Sponsors are: Colby & Gale and Supplies Unlimited, of Damariscotta, and Chesterfield Associates, of Westport Island.

Six evening performances and one matinee will be presented in the Poe Theater at Lincoln Academy.  Evening performances begin at 7:30 on Oct 30, 31, Nov 1, 6, 7 & 8, and Sunday, Nov 2 at 3:00pm will be the only matinee.  Tickets are $8 for students, $16 for adults. Seating is unreserved, unless specially requested in advance.
